Perhaps you remember this riveting scene between Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson in the movie, A Few Good Men:
Lieutenant JG Kaffee: Colonel Jessep! Did you order the Code Red?!
Judge Randolph: You don’t have to answer that question!
Colonel Jessep: I’ll answer the question. You want answers?
Lieutenant JG Kaffee: I think I’m entitled to them.
Colonel Jessep: You want answers?!
Lieutenant JG Kaffee: I want the truth!
Colonel Jessep: You can’t handle the truth!
Brilliant writing. Brilliant acting…
And all sadly undone, in my opinion, by another corny Hollywood ending as the protagonist and antagonist salute each other. (Cue dramatic music.)
Most people, I assume, are overjoyed when the underdog Lieutenant finally traps the big man in his own lie, forcing him to admit he ordered the Code Red and is arrested.
